Bollywood New Movie "Victory," which has a cricket theme, had its global premiere in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo on Friday, a co-producer said. Shot in India, Sri Lanka, Australia and Pakistan, "Victory" centres around a father who dreams his young son, Vijay Shekhawat, will rise from a small village in Rajasthan to play for the Indian cricket team. "The film combines what Indians love best -- cricket, music and Bollywood movies," said Sri Lankan producer Chandran Rutnam, who handled the Colombo leg of the shooting. She however, has her feet placed firmly on the ground as she says the script matters most to her and she signs a film only if she likes the narrative. “I have no particular choice of role in a film, but in the order of preference, I first see the script, followed by the role, director, banner and then the co-star,” Asin told IANS. "Slumdog Millionaire," which earned 10 Oscar nominations this week, including one for Best Picture, is set in Mumbai, is based on an Indian novel and features many Indian actors. Yet the sensibility is anything but Indian, some critics argue. They attribute the film's sweeping international success in large part to its timing and themes that touch a chord with Western audiences. "It's a white man's imagined India," said Shyamal Sengupta, a film professor at the Whistling Woods International institute in Mumbai. "It's not quite snake charmers, but it's close.
