Katrina Kaif Absent For Salman Khan’s Birthday Bash!

Salman turned 43 on 27th December and he celebrated this day very well with his buddies and colleagues. Adnan Sami, Anil Sharma, Aalim, Sajid Nadiadwala, David Dhawan, Ramesh Taurani, Vijay Galani, Mallika Sherawat, Asin and Zarine Khan where all present at the bash. But girlfriend Katrina Kaif excused herself from the party, she was more interested in celebrating Christmas with her family back in London than Salman’s birthday bash. A close source tells us, “Originally Katrina Kaif was supposed to come back by 27th evening for Salman’s birthday. She declined at the last moment. She’ll be staying with her family till New Year.” On the other hand Salman Khan seemed pretty cool without Katrina and had all the fun dancing with other Bollywood hotties like Mallika Sherawat, Asin and Zarine. An onlooker at the party revealed, “Zarine and Salman thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company. Zarine is a beautiful girl and since she is an Indian, I think Salman Khan could relate to her better than K

Aamir Khan Is my Guru: Surya

Ghajini is a remake of a Tamil film with the same name. Aamir Khan’s role in the Tamil Ghajini was played by actor Surya and Surya is mighty impressed after seeing the Hindi Ghajini. He thinks that the Hindi version is way better than the Tamil one. This is what he had to say: “Every remake — or even a retake — is tough. It will never be the same again if a remake is made. It also offers the chance to better the original. That is why I always believed Ghajini’s Hindi adaptation would be better than the Tamil version. My hindsight was proved right when I finally watched the Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini in Chennai. Needless to say, it is much better than the Tamil version. Comparisons are inevitable, especially when it was remade by Murugadoss himself. Finally, about Aamir Khan. In a nutshell, I would say he did a fantastic job. Having said that, I don’t even try a comparison with him. He is like a professor to me, and I am just a mere student. A student can never compa

Raaz The Mystery Continues Music Review

Mahesh Bhatt’s Vishesh films and Emraan Hashmi have become synonymous with great music and chartbuster numbers. We’ve seen it in back then in Sadak, Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin, Raaz, Inteha, Paap, then Kalyug, Gangster, Awarapann, Woh Lamhe, and Jannat recently. When the music of RaazTMC released people expected a chartbuster album from the Bhatts again… only to be disappointed. Too many cooks spoil the broth, the same way too many music directors spoiled the album. Wonder why the Bhatts did not give the whole album to our good old Pritam instead of Raju Singh, Toshi-Sharib, Pranay and Gaurav Das. There are 5 tracks in the album and 2 are remixes. Toshi Saberi’s Mahi Ve and Banda Re are the only two attractive songs of the album. Mahi Ve is already up the charts. All the other tracks on the album are average and very forgettable. Soniyo is pleasant but you may not remember the song a couple of hours later. Kaisa Yeh Raaz

The film has multiple side tracks telling stories of different characters residing in the Chandni Chowk area of old Delhi. It highlights the mixed culture of the people who follow different religions. The film is all set to release in February. Prior to that it will be screened at Dubai International Film Festival.

Bollywood movie review: Ghajini

Ever since Oscar-nominated Lagaan in 2001, an Aamir Khan-starring flick has always appropriately garnered buzz. His release of Taare Zameen Par earlier this year is even India’s entry for the Oscars. He now stars in Ghajini and the hype could not be bigger. As a remake of the South Indian megahit, Aamir Khan has also revealed a six-pack and a body of steel. Yes, that obviously sounds corny, but for all you non-Bollywood followers, a new trend has infected the male actors, termed the Hrithikization of Bollywood. Just a brief summary: a few years ago, an actor named Hrithik Roshan debuted and he was the first actor to have a lean, American-looking muscular body making him the newest craze. Sure, Salman Khan was muscular, but he never caused the fitness fad as Hrithik did. After this, all the actors have now been forced to shape up and get buff. Last year, India’s biggest star Shah Rukh Khan got ripped for Om Shanti Om , and now superstar Aamir Khan has been the latest to jump on t

The New Year eve plans of Bollywood stars

With 2009 just around the corner, Bollywood stars are headed to different destinations to usher in the New Year. Since the mood in Mumbai is pretty glum after the November 26 terror attacks, most of the New Year performances in the city have been canceled. Moreover, even the stars who would normally stay put in Mumbai on Dec 31 are headed to exotic locales. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are on their way for a chilled out vacation in the Swiss Alps. Hope there are no bhel puri restaurants there to give Saif the stomach cramps. Akshay Kumar is already on a holiday with wife Twinkle Khanna , son Aarav and Dimple Kapadia and his mom Aruna. For them, the celebrations began on Dec 29 with Twinkle’s birthday and will continue till the January 1. Shilpa Shetty is on a vacation with her beau Raj Kundra in Spain. Alongside the duo are their respective families. Salman Khan along with his brothers is in Goa for the New Years. The celebrations, low-key this year, began in the Khan household

Harman Baweja Plays With Real Cricketers in Victory

Harman Baweja is all geared up for his next film Victory where he plays a small town boy who works hard to fulfill his dream of playing for the Indian cricket team. “It’s almost a realistic film, almost like an autobiography on a cricket,” he said at the inauguration party of 9th Fame Cinema theatres in Mumbai on Friday. Apart from Amrita Rao and Anupam Kher we’ll get to see real cricketers like Brett Lee, Shoaib Mallik, Sanath Jaisurya, Mike Hussey, Dinesh Kartik and Harbhajan Singh playing themselves for the first time on the silver screen. “Bhajji is someone I hit it off with. We both are Punjabi boys so we took off on the full sarson da saag makke di roti conversation. But over all cricketers, like all of us are completely normal guys. So the only thing that I admire is that somewhere they play for their country and I think it’s commendable,” he said. All the best for Victory Harman, I wish in this film you look more like yourself rather than a distorted clone of Hrithik Roshan.

Amitabh Bachchan, Abhi and Shahrukh Khan in Kal Kisne Dekha

The three superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek and Shahrukh Khan are now coming together for Vivek Sharma’s Kal Kissne Dekha and all three are doing cameos. Sharma is obviously thrilled as he gets the creme de la creme of Bollywood to play cameo for his film which is the debut vehicle of Jacky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai. “SRK is making a special appearance in the film and is coming at a very important time in the film’s climax. He is a good friend and like a brother to me and for him to agree to be a part of Kal Kissney Dekha is like a blessing”. Says Vivek, “Abhishek Bachchan is a part of one of the romantic songs which is going to be shot in New Zealand in the first week of January”. Hope this one does’t depress like Anil Devgan’s Haal-e-Dil.

Akshay Kumar Gifts Twinkle a Bentley Car

Bollywood: Akshay Kumar is a loving husband, so what if he charges the poor producers 9 crores for a mere dubbing job even when the world economy is down in the dumps. Look what nice things he does with all the money. He pays heavy income tax to the Indian government and keeps his wife happy… Thats perhaps the greatest achievement for any Indian man - because these two things are literally impossible to achieve for many Indian men. He decided to gift her a lavish Bentley Car worth 3 crore to his wifey dear on her birthday on 29th December. Apparently he spent so much for her because he was extremely proud of her and wanted to give her the best of everything because he owes his success to her. Apparently he handed the car keys to his wife before he flew off to Hong Kong for Christmas Show. Twinkle was overwhelmed with joy we heard.

Bollywood: Katrina Kaif’s Beauty and Style Secrets

Bollywood: Katrina Kaif is the most beautiful actress in Bollywood at the moment. She is perfect in every way - amazing skin, beautiful eyes, lovely mouth and the chic knows how to accentuate her beauty well. Never do you see her wearing what doesn’t suit her style both in terms of clothes and makeup. She reveals her beauty secrets and it is interesting to know what kind of products she uses and what is her beauty regimen. So make sure you note this stuff down in case you wanna be as beautiful as her - Beauty Regimen “I kick start my day with three to four glasses of water. I excercise. I love swimming, jogging, gymming — this gives blood circulation a boost and skin feels healthier. My skin behaves well if I use less make-up. A beauty rule that I follow is to always cleanse my face of all make-up, however tired I may be. I use a face wash by Mene & Moy which has two per cent salicylic acid and Lancôme Cleansing Milk for the face and eyes. I am addicted to the Purifying Apricot

Bollywood Newz: Ghajini's review: violence before terrorism

When a seething Aamir Khan rams an iron pipe through a man’s stomach in the first few minutes of the film, you get an idea of what’s coming (in the original Tamil version, there’s apparently a tap attached to the pipe and when hero Surya turns it on blood comes dripping out) in the next three hours. Aamir Khan plays a revenge-crazed lover in Ghajini It seems only fitting that 2008’s biggest film will likely be a violent one. Yet, it’s an oddly comforting violence. Nobody wants to blow up the big city, religion doesn’t matter here and nobody’s heard of suicide bombers. It’s the violence of a time before terrorism. It’s a world where villains wear gold chains, kidnap little girls, bribe the police and kill innocent people who get in their way. A world that we had almost forgotten thanks to the new wave of urban terror that has swept our cities in recent years and, especially, in the year gone by. Plus it’s got Tamil punch. Villains are pitchers who swing iron rods that look more menacin

Salman Khan highly impressed by Ghajini

Salman Khan is very much impressed by Aamir after he watched the movie at a special screening. Salman Khan says, ‘I was just awestruck and enthralled with Aamir Khan’s stunning act. It’s true that Aamir has a great physique for the film, but his spellbinding performance eclipses them during course of show.’ Salman also predicted that Ghajini was the best film of this decade. He said, ‘There hasn’t been such a great film over for past 10 years’. Do you folks have thoughts similar to Salman Khan?

Aishwarya Rai refuses L’oreal Sonam approves

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan didn’t win the Miss World title just for the heck of it, she is smart and intelligent and that’s the reason she refused to endorse L’oreals latest skin lightening cream. When Ash refused, L’oreal appointed Sonam Kapoor as their new brand ambassador. A source says, “It was the fairness cream that bothered Aishwarya. She said that she didn’t want to promote a fairness cream especially in India where one’s skin color is such a big issue. She will never promote a product that discriminates on the basis of one’s skin color. Ours is a society where biases are so prevalent that she will do all she can to curb it.” “When Aishwarya refused to relent, the cosmetic company was forced to get Sonam into the picture. They need an Indian face for the promotion and Sonam was the next ideal choice,” The source adds, “Such stories seldom bother her. Aishwarya Rai is primarily guided by her sense of ethics as far as advertising is concerned. She does not endorse products unless

Shahrukh Khan: Everybody Must watch Ghajini

Shahrukh Khan has decided to end the cold war between him and Aamir Khan by requesting each and everyone to watch Aamir latest flick Ghajini. SRK says, “I want all the people to watch the film’. We as people from the industry know how much pain it takes to make a film. We wait anxiously every Friday to see the result of our hard work. So my best wishes are with every film be it Aamir’s or Akshay’s. I want every film to do well.” He also denied his rivalry with Aamir, saying, “We share an extremely cordial relationship.” He gave an example of their recent meeting, where they discussed their abs, “I was scared as I lost my six packs and wanted Aamir to say no. Luckily, he said he has lost his packs too, so let’s give a chance to some other actor.” Talking about Aamir he says, “I think he has changed for the better. Previously, he did not like to interact much with the public and the media, but now he interacts well and has also developed a sense of humour.”SR Khan Well I don’t think su

Jumbo Film Review: Good fun for kids

Film : Jumbo Voices : Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Gulshan Grover, Dimple Kapadia, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani Rating : 2.5/5 Banner : Percept Picture Company Genre: Animation Animation in India is exploring new grounds each passing day. While a Roadside Romeo displayed quality work from Indian animators, Jumbo explores the weaving of emotions into such films. The film undoubtedly strikes the right emotional chords and discovers emotions. It's cute, kiddy and packed with sentiments. The problem with this film is that it defies everything that you are used to seeing and at times is a bit hard to digest. Jumbo is the tale of elephants and particularly one elephant and his strife to find his father. A jovial baby jumbo is shown growing up sans his captured father. Stories about his warrior elephant father are all he has to remember him by. But out to set that straight and find his father, Jumbo (Akshay Kumar) enters human territory. Interacting with all kinds of humans, Jumbo learns to disti

Bollywood Newz: Sonam Kapoor signs her first endorsement deal

Her first film ‘Saawariya’ was a disaster, but she managed to get a huge fan following owing to her freshness and beauty. Talking about Sonam Kapoor , the gal has had no other releases as yet post ‘Saawariya’. She is busy doing Omprakash Mehra’s ‘ Delhi 6 ’ opposite Abhishek Bachchan and has just signed in her first endorsement deal. Now, the young actress will be the brand ambassador for international cosmetic brand L’Oreal and will launch its new range of products targeted at the young generation. Aishwarya Bachchan has been the brand face of L’Oreal for three years now. However, looking at her age and status, the company has decided to sign in young face Sonam Kapoor for their new product to be launched soon. Ash will continue to be with the brand but she will represent only women of her ages and Sonam, the younger groups. Sonam was signed for a huge amount commensurate with what the actresses of today like Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are charging. The deal was brought ab

Katrina Kaif dazzles at Nakshatra event

That Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai lost the deal of jewelry brand Nakshatra to Katrina Kaif a few months back had already been informed to you at our space. And undoubtedly, the decision of the company seemed to be apt as we saw Katrina sizzling and dazzling at the promotional event for Nakshatra. Katrina Kaif has been tagged as the Goddess of Luck for promotions and brand endorsements in the industry. A firm believer in destiny, Katrina feels anyone can be what he wants to be and destiny plays a major part in it. God has of course been very kind to her, adds the actress. In a recent interview Katrina had also confessed that she is most comfortable in front of 300 people on a set. Otherwise, she is lost, says Katrina Kaif. However, even after replacing Ash, Katrina feels that she is no comparison for the Bachchan Bahu as she has an iconic status. Katrina has a series of projects lined up for the coming year - there’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani , De Dhana Dhan and the soon-to-be-

Bollywood 2008 – Year of many flops and few hits

Year 2008 was dotted with many big budget flops and a few hits even as the film industry battled the global meltdown and the lull after the Mumbai terror attacks. The great cinematic revolution that appeared around the corner a few years ago seems to have fizzed off. Only a few successful films of 2008 attempted to defy the convention, while most pandered to the tried-and-tested success formula of usual stereotypes. Films like Race , Singh Is Kinng , Golmaal Returns and Kismat Konnection were pretty ordinary flicks that did well at the box office partly because of the hype surrounding them, or because of their charismatic stars, or may be because the audience had no other choice at the ticket window at the time of their release. On the other hand, there were big disasters like Drona , Tashan , Love Story 2050 , Yuvvraaj , God Tussi Great Ho and Kidnap that went turkey despite the backing of big banners and presence of crowd-pulling stars. The most notable and surprising hit of the

Bollywood Newz: Is Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini' banned?

Rumors are abuzz that the 'Ghajini' starring Aamir Khan and Asin Thottumkal might be banned to be screened in Tamilnadu. Producer Salem A. Chandrasekaran has appealed in the court to halt Ghajini's release as he has not been compensated for the rights to remake it. He produced 'Ghajini' in Tamil earlier with Surya and Asin. Director AR Murugadoss made the movie which was a super hit in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. Later, he came to Bollywood and signed up to direct the movie once again for Hindi. But, the producer of Tamil version complained earlier that he holds the copyrights for the script. He lodged a complaint against the movie and the verdict is now out to ban the movie from being screened in theatres in Tamilnadu . This will be a big loss for the filmmakers and for Asin who has pinned high hopes to reach heights with her first Bollywood venture . Moreover, director Murugadoss will face the consequences of being neglected by Tamil producers in the futur

Bollywood: Bipasha Basu has a day full of mishaps

Last Sunday was a day whose memories bring shudder to sultry Bong beauty Bipasha Basu. The gal was shooting an action scene last Sunday and then a mishap took place and she had to be taken to the hospital. No, it wasn’t a fall or a leg or back injury. It was just a small flying pebble which landed right in her ear. Though the actress tried to shake the pebble out, but it did not help. To save her eardrum Bips decided to take the medical help but unfortunately, it was Sunday and all clinics in the vicinity were closed. Now, it was John Abraham, who as a true boyfriend, came to her rescue. Receiving Bipasha’s SOS, he immediately called an ENT doc friend of his. Bipasha rushed to Leelavati hospital where the ENT specialist took out the pebble with a suction machine. A relieved Bipasha went home with her parents, but another trouble awaited her. Mugdha Godse is homeless at present and is staying at each of her friends’ place for a day. No, she has not been thrown out for some bizarre reason. It is just that the gal who has just tasted success with ‘Fashion’ has decided to fashion up her house a bit and has workers spread in her entire house doing it for her. Though Mugdha decided to spend some days in a 5 star hotel, her friends did not allow her to do so arguing even if her family was in Pune, she was to treat their homes as her home. So, for at least next 15 days, Mugdha with her luggage in her car is living life hippie style stopping for a day at each friend’s house. That’s a foreign lifestyle in India!

Aamir touched by Salman Khan’s paintings

Salman Khan is at it again. He has let the artist in him take over. This time for good friend Aamir Khan As a gesture of his affection for Aamir, Salman has painted two portraits of the former on black canvasses, showing his interpretations of the character Aamir plays in his new film — one represents a stately figure, the other symbolises angst. While Salman has been known to paint fellow actors, this is the first time that he has painted an actor’s character connected to a film. It took him around two weeks to finish it. They will be unveiled today at a multiplex by Aamir’s co-star Asin who will next be seen romancing Salman in London Dreams. Aamir, who was keen that his co-star do the unveiling, said, “I had absolutely no idea that Salman is such a talented painter. He has made two paintings of me, one is a more real representation and the other, which I am even more impressed with, is an impression of my new look. He has an amazing sense of aesthetics. I was very touched by hi

Bollywood Newz:Amitabh Bachchan is No 1: Aamir Khan

Amid the war of words between the three Khans - Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman - the Ghajini star Aamir has declared that it is none other than superstar Amitabh Bachchan who is still the number one in Bollywood. "For me Amitabh Bachchan is No 1. Do Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachchan say they are number one? No one who sits on the top needs to say he is number one. Others keep claiming to be there," said Aamir. Recently, Shah Rukh sparked a controversy by proclaiming himself the biggest brand and saying there cannot be any competition with him. Commenting on that Aamir said: "I don't believe in competitions with others. I only compete with myself." After a phase of cold war with his contemporary Shah Rukh, Aamir says he can't dare to fight with him. "Do you think I could dare to fight with Shah Rukh. He is a good friend and so I can't fight with him. I respect him a lot," said Aamir, who was in capital over the weekend to

‘Asin will make it big in Bollywood’

Ravi, who is now in Los Angeles, shooting with King Khan for Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan, talks about Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (RNBDJ) and Ghajini... How was it to be the director of photography for two of the biggest films of the year - Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (RNBDJ) and Ghajini? It’s a rare honour to be part of two of the biggest movies, and I should say I’m lucky. Both movies have big stars — SRK and Aamir. Both movies also have big directors, Aditya Chopra and A R Murugadoss. How different are the acting styles of SRK and Aamir? SRK is a very smart man. He never shows how hard he works or how well he prepares himself for a scene. But when the camera begins to roll, he comes alive. He is a people’s man — he connects with the crew and knows most of them by name, greets them and even teases them. I share a fantastic rapport and good professional relationship with him. I have been lucky to be associated with Aamir Khan for a long time and have worked in three films with him — Dil Chaht

Bollywood: Hitting at Terror Top 10 Bollywood Movies that say it All

They say, “ Movies are the mirrors of societ y” and with Indian society so torn with the issue of terrorism , it is but natural that the subject of terrorism find its’ way into the themes and plots of Bollywood movies . Terrorism emerged as a subject with prominence in the Hindi films with Subhash Ghai’s ‘ Karma ’ which was able to contextualize the issue of terrorism in and around Kashmir with a candor. Then came the movies which delved into the psychology of terrorists with the likes of Santosh Sivan’s ‘ The Terrorist ’ and yet again, the silver screen showed the joint operations of army and police to combat terrorism in films like ‘ Zameen ’ and ‘ Tango Charlie ’. Now, our new bunch of directors view terrorism with a different scale focusing on how the individual and the civil society adjusts and walks on with the life after being stopped at by bomb blast or attacks with films like ‘ Mumbai Meri Jaan ’, Wednesday’ and the likes. Films reach wider rather than other forms of arts a

‘My family are SRK fans’

Model Anushka Sharma doesn’t say she didn’t want to be in films. “If I said that, I’d be a hypocrite,” she says. After a debut that others would kill for – the lead in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, directed by Aditya Chopra , opposite Shah Rukh Khan – that might be right. The 20-year-old does say, though, that she wasn’t prepared to join showbusiness at all. “I didn’t know much about how the industry works. We all have an image – a misconception, I can call it that now – about the film industry, how you have to be from a filmi khandaan to do films... I also came from the same school of thought. I always thought it wasn’t easy to do films , and not having much knowledge about it, I thought it best not to want something I didn’t know much about. I always had an open mind, though... I just never thought it would be on such a big scale.” And the scale of it really hit her when she first went on the sets. “Before that, when I’d be rehearsing my lines with Adi, there’d be max two people around me.
