Players: Movie Review

Movie Director-duo Abbas Mustan have proved their recycling capabilities credibly enough to win the opportunity of directing an 'official' remake of a Hollywood movie. They have stars, budget, virgin locations and also a ready made film (rather two of them) for reference. But that know-all impudence of the directors to made it Indian, The Italian Job is like having a pizza with Punjabi tadka topping. The supposedly sophisticated heist film starts with a corny jewelry store robbery that acts as an early eye-opener on what to expect thereon. The big plan here is to loot a locomotive laden with gold bars en route from Russia to Romania. The players comprise of the usual suspects - an illusionist (Bobby Deol), a hacker (Neil Mukesh), an explosive expert (Sikander Kher), a prosthetic expert (Omi Vaidya) and a locomotive expert ( Bipasha Basu) who is obviously expected to double up as the seductress. And then there is Charlie (Abhishek Bachchan) who has no expertise and perhaps t...

Jail - Movie Review

Bollywood News: Madhur Bhandarkar is synonymous with thought-provoking, hard-hitting films. Right from CHANDNI BAR to FASHION, the expert storyteller has made movies that hold tremendous shock-value. In turn, Madhur has cultivated a rich fan-base for his films. With JAIL, Madhur not only makes you visit a prison, but also makes you peep into the psyche of a prisoner. In the recent past, Sriram Raghavan's EK HASINA THI [2004; Saif Ali Khan, Urmila Matondkar] and Nazim Rizvi's UNDERTRIAL [2007; Rajpal Yadav] narrated the travails and anguish of innocents who were falsely implicated in a case. Besides, Nagesh Kukunoor's TEEN DEEWAREIN [2003; Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Nagesh Kukunoor] too narrated the story of three convicts. But JAIL is different from the above-named films. Besides watching a thought-provoking story on celluloid, one has also come to expect incredible performances in a Madhur Bhandarkar movie. And JAIL too is embellished with superb performances from it...

He intends to enter the film for the National Awards competition since he thinks Neil has given a National Award winning performance. Madhur had been toying w...

Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Godse were in for an unpleasant experience on the first day when they were shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail. Yesterday, Neil and Mugdha were harassed and chased by a group of youngsters while they were shooting for an intimate scene at Bandra East. Consequently, the shooting was stalled for nearly one-and-half hour. An eyewitness said, “Mugdha Godse and Neil were shooting an intimate scene while sitting in a stationary car. Since it was a long shot, Madhur and other unit members were standing quite far away from the car in which Neil and Mugdha Godse were sitting. For the scene, Mugdha had put her head on Neil's chest. When the youngsters saw this, they surrounded the car and started whistling and singing songs of Fashion. Mugdha was petrified.” Before Madhur Bhandarkar's crew could rescue Neil and Mugdha Godse, Neil had to take immediate action. “Neil drove away when he saw the youngsters coming too close to the car,” the witness added.
