PHOONK 2 - Review

PHOONK 2 - Bollywood-News.IN Ram Gopal Verma is back with his sequel to ‘Phoonk’ . Of course, this one has not been directed by him, but by Milind Gadagkar. ‘Phoonk’ had the crow and now ‘Phoonk 2′ has a doll, which spooks you. The movie starts promisingly well, though it gets a little slow as it goes on but post interval, it shows some real fast movements. Phoonk 2 captures the fear of a family caught hostage to a murderous, animalistic spirit seeking revenge by brutally terrorizing them. “Phoonk” ends with the killing of Madhu, the woman who casts a black magic spell on Rajiv’s daughter Raksha. Phoonk 2 begins with Madhu’s ghost returning from the grave to seek revenge on the family. Rajiv moves with his family to a new place. Raksha and her brother Rohan begin exploring the new place and the surroundings — the lonely beach and then the woods behind the house. The action begins with Raksha and Rohan finding a doll in the woods which then progresses to a series of highly disturb

Bollywood New Movie - Agyaat Review

Ramgopal Varma thinks differently. This time too the maverick film-maker defies the stereotype and takes to the dense forests of Sri Lanka to meet an 'unknown' force. But let's clear the misconception at the very start. AGYAAT is no supernatural thriller [like PHOONK] or a horror fest [like BHOOT]. This one's more of an adventure thriller that doesn't scare you at all, but makes you a participant in a pulse-pounding journey. For any movie to succeed, it ought to keep the viewer engrossed first and foremost. AGYAAT succeeds in doing that, especially towards the second hour. You haven't witnessed a journey like the one in AGYAAT on the Hindi screen before. In the West, the most memorable film I can think of is THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. AGYAAT works for several factors. The dense jungle blows your mind away, the sound design and the background score are easily at par with international films, the camera movement is spectacular and of course, RGV's execution of t

Bollywood upset with RGV and Riteish for their Taj tour!

Ram Gopal Verma and Riteish Deshmukh made a visit to see how Hotel Taj had been destructed by the terror attack along with CM Vilasrao Deshmukh on Sunday. We asked Bollywood celebs for their reaction to RGV and Riteish’s tour of Taj. Farhan Akhtar - It’s an unbelievable act done by CM and Ram Gopal Verma! I really don’t know what to comment on this whole act. Harry Baweja- It was an unnecessary visit and I’m completely disturbed with what is happening to our city. I was completely shocked when I saw Ram Gopal Verma on every news channel. Pooja Bedi- In Bollywood there are so many films which are made on real life stories like Shootout At Lokhandwala, Black Friday but why Ram Gopal Verma went with Vilasrao Deshmukh I cannot understand. He should have gone at some other time as every common man is curious to know what exactly happened but I don’t know what happened to Vilasrao Deshmukh that he took Ramu to the site! Arjan Bajwa- This is not the correc

Bollywood reacts to Ram Gopal Varma's Taj tour

Bollywood has reacted with h orror that one of their own toured the Mumbai terror sites in the immediate wake of a seige that has left the whole world gasping, condemning his intentions, if any, to make a movie on the carnage. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now said he did not go to the Taj and Trident with this intention; that his being inside the hotel was a “mere coincidence”. News channels have turned the focus on RGV’s visit with Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, his film actor son Ritiesh and, allegedly, with his (Varma’s) assistant director. The CM has resigned. “What was he (Varma) thinking?” said actor Aashish Chaudhary, who lost his sister and brother-in-law in the terror attack at The Trident. “It is not a tourist site or an exhibition.” Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who started his career with RGV, didn’t spare his mentor and said, “No one knows his intention behind taking a tour of Taj. But knowing RGV, one can suspect that he might be interested in making a film

'Ram Gopal Varma is not a terrorist'

This is how Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Vilasrao Deshmukh tried to clear Ram Gopal Varma's name from the ongoing controversy around the Bollywood filmmaker's visit to the devastated Taj hotel along with the Chief Minister and his Bollywood actor son Riteish Deshmukh. The filmmaker defended himself saying that he meant no insensitivity to anybody when he went to the Taj yesterday. The hotel, along with the Trident and Nariman House has been the site of one the most brutal terrorist attacks in India. Varma clarified that the Chief Minister did not invite him. He just happened to be with the CM's actor son Riteish whom he knows for years. The visit became the centre of a political storm that, of many things, has led to the Chief Minister's exit now. Varma, known for his realistic and hard hitting style of filmmaking was criticized for trying to use his connection with the CM's son, and capitalize on the terror attack's aftermath by planning to exploit the cur

Bollywood's new Gabbar Singh?

R am Gopal Varma has still not gotten over his Sholay hangover. After his disasterous attempt at remaking the film with Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag , Ramu now calls himself Gabbar Singh . 'I am fascinated to see how people run down my films, criticise them, ridicule them, bitch them out and sometimes also deeply try to analyse my mind through my films,' the director wrote in his blog. 'This reminds me of a scene in Sholay . When Thakur ( Sanjeev Kumar ) is seething with rage on Gabbar ( Amjad Khan ) after the massacre of his family, a highly amused Gabbar not able to control his joy chuckles and says, ' De jitni gaali de Thakur. Jee bhar gaali de . ' 'Thakur's family is my film, the hate club of mine is Thakur and I am Gabbar. But the sad part for my haters is that unlike how the Sholay Thakur got Veeru and Jai to finish Gabbar, my hate club Thakur is highly unlikely to get their own Veeru and Jai, namely the film which they plan to make, and this the point
