Salman Khan goes the Aamir Khan way

It was Aamir first to follow Salman Khan’s footsteps and get that beefed-up look for Ghajini . Now it’s Salman Khan’s turn to take a leaf out of Aamir’s book. The way ‘Ghajini’ was marketed started a different trend in Bollywood. Aamir’s marketing strategy for the film received plaudits from Bollywood fraternity. And the one who was and is full of admiration for perfectionist Aamir Khan’s promotion stunts, is his friend Salman Khan , who wants to follow the example set by Aamir to promote his upcoming film Wanted Dead And Alive . It’s been reported Salman has been highly impressed with publicity gimmick of Aamir’s movie, when the multiplex staffers sported the Ghajini hair-cut. And the way Aamir Khan, being a media shy person, interacted with media, and even went to the length of chopping hairs and shaving people’s heads. Salman Khan has, in fact, told producer Boney Kapoor to promote ‘Wanted Dead And Alive’ in a similarly unique way. A photo session has already been planned and a h...

I’m not Superman: Akshay Kumar

Bollywood’s action Star who laughs, cries, sings, dances and kick boxes in the film that producer Warner Bros’ American audiences and the Hollywood press (also, Indian kids) actually enjoyed, is standing on his feet having taken the punches squarely on the chin... BT put him on the mat and got him to deliver straight replies to some more punches... With this flop, it’s being said your golden spell is over.. But my so-called flop has generated Rs 45 crore in the first weekend... it’s the fourth highest, three-day box office collection in the history of Bollywood. Besides, I never said this was the greatest film ever made. I told everyone, ‘It’s a senseless film, leave your brains at home.’ I accept it for what it is, I love it for what it is, and I will stand by it and say that’s the film we wanted to make and we made. I pray you like it, and I’m sorry if you don’t. But I didn’t break my back doing it to have my own fraternity later stab me from behind... But you’re hugely succe...

All you need to know about Slumdog Millionaire

'Slumdog Millionaire' was all set to go straight to DVD after the film's original studio backer, Warner Independent (a division of Warner Brothers), closed down in May 2008. Luckily, the Fox studio's indie film division, Fox Searchlight, picked it up for theatrical release. During filming, Azza, the Mumbai boy who was cast as Jamal's brother Salim, had his house bulldozed by the city council – a common occurrence in the slums where much of the shoot took place. The crew found him sleeping on a car roof. The three youngest child leads, who were all cast from the Mumbai slums, are now having their schooling funded by the film's producers. With the promise of a trust fund should they pass their exams at 16. Anil Kapoor, who plays Prem Kumar, the host of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?' in 'Slumdog', donated his fee to Plan India, a child development NGO in Delhi, devoted t...
