Those who have watched Raavan (or even its trailer) would agree that the high-cliff dive that Abhishek’s Beera takes from the lofty mountains to the gurgling water hundreds of feet below was a visual delight. But at the same time it was very risky and extremely dangerous and, in no situation, would a non-stuntman like Abhishek go ahead with it. In that rocky terrain and gushing backwaters, one false move and death was guaranteed unless it is performed by a stuntman. However, in the interviews leading up to the release of Raavan, Abhishek maintained that he, himself, had performed that dare devilry. But, MS Balram, a former national diving champion, claims that it was he who had performed the death-defying stunt. Balram says, “I am not here to create any controversy or to attract publicity because personally, I am a big fan of the Bachchans. I just want Mani Ratnam Sir’s movie to do well. But, it is also true that I was paid for doing the stunt and I am proud that I could do it.”
