Bollywood Hunk John Abraham, who has been sentenced to 15 days in jail in a rash and negligent driving case registered in 2006, Friday said he would appeal against the verdict. "To begin with, I'm a law abiding citizen and I will be appealing this verdict and will go to every length to have this verdict appealed. I'm advised that I have a good chance of succeeding this appeal," John Abraham, who is currently out on bail, said. "I am also clarifying with this statement only because I am a public figure and in all modesty I do have a large youth interaction, who look to me for guidance and leadership and inspiration and I don't want them to feel or take away that when wronged, we do not fight for what is right," John Abraham said, reading from his statement. Four years after he was accused of rash and negligent driving, Bollywood actor John Abraham was on Thursday sentenced to 15 days’ simple imprisonment by the Bandra magistrate’s court. In April 2006, Abraham had rammed his Yamaha Hayabusa motorbike into a cycle, injuring two people in the accident. Today, the verdict was pronounced and the actor was sentenced a jail term of 15 days. However, the actor was granted bail from the court. John Abraham was present with his lawyer Robin Periera in the court today and nodded when the court pronounced the judgment. Metropolitan magistrate S V Kulkarni held him guilty of reckless driving and causing hurt but took into consideration the fact that he did not flee. “Your move was humane and kind as you immediately took both victims to the hospital.” John Abraham is a lover of motor bikes and has always professed safe driving. So John is now readying to fly off to the US in February for some commando-like training by a set of Hollywood action specialists who have earlier been associated with films like Kill Bill. A source close to John Abraham says, “Considering that action films in Bollywood are now made to Hollywood standards, the director wants John to do his necessary homework in America. The film has an amazing amount of action, and he will be trained like a commando. The month long training session requires 10-12 hours of work everyday,” says a source. This project was earlier with Studio 18, who backed out. But John was keen to work on the project and took it up as producer.
