Mumbai: We’ve seen Hema Malini as Razia Sultan and more recently Hrithik Roshan as Akbar and Aamir Khan as Mangal Pandey.
But given a chance which historical or mythological character would our stars like to play? CNN-IBN decided to quiz Bollywood stars on whom they would like to impersonate on screen.
"I would like to play Hanuman because i think it will be quite interesting and entertaining,” says Shahid Kapur.
Shahid may find competition in Vivek Oberoi who too wants to play monkey god. "I am a big hanuman fan. Since a kid I have loved his stories and felt fascinated with a sense of humour that he has had. The innocence and the sense of might within the characters that he has and he doesn't even know he has it. And sometimes, he becomes a kid, sometimes a powerful person. I think he is my favourite,” he says.
Amongst the ladies, Mandira Bedi wants to do nothing less than ride into a battle on horseback brandishing a sword. "Well, I believe I am a bit of a fighter so I would love to play Jhansi ki Rani. And that’s not because of my hair,” she says.
Given a choice, actor Sohail Khan wouldn't want to play Bhagat Singh or Mangal Pandey. This Khan wants to play Sambhaji - son of the founder of the Maratha Empire Shivaji.
“He was the only historical character I was interested in when I was studying in Class V or VI. I felt that he was one guy who took his fathers legacy to expanding his father’s legacy. The stories we hear about him that he was a brave one,” he says.
