Finally Akshay Kumar’s forthcoming film ‘Singh is Kinng’ has got a clean chit from Sikh clergy. The film had come under severe attack from the Sikh community over a few shots in the film.
The film that stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif who was most recently proclaimed as the sexiest woman on earth was mired in controversy for some shots that did not go down well with the Sikh community.
Following the complaints a few sequences were reshot and the film was later show to Sikh clergy to get a clean chit from them and also clear their apprehensions abut the film ‘Singh in Kinng’.
Akshay extended an apology if he had inadvertently hurt the sentiments of te community. He said, “If I`ve made a mistake, Lord forgive me and I will try to rectify my mistake. Lot of changes are done but thing which have been already shot cannot be reset again.”
Later the director, actors Akshay Kumar along with some Sikh leaders addressed a press conference to clear te air.
Singh Is Kinng also starring Neha Dhupia, Sonu Sood, Sudhanshu Pandey, Ranvir Shorey, Kirron Kher, and Om Puri will release worldwide on 8 August 2008.
Bazmi says, “I had shown the rushes of the film to different Sikh bodies as even though I have taken care, there could be some lapses. The Sikh group who saw the film suggested some changes in the appearance of Akshay as a Sikh and few dialogues and we agreed to it”.
If reports are to be believed the producer got seven sequences reshot at Film City in Mumbai.
