Shooting his film Chandni Chowk To China in Bangkok has been like a homecoming for Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar .
Akshay’s life-story would truly make for an emotional potboiler. Before he came to Mumbai and began his acting career, the actor used to work in Bangkok restaurants where he used to do pretty much everything from waiting tables and cooking food to washing dishes. From there, Akshay has today risen to the status of a sought-after mega star in Hindi film industry, but the man has not forgotten his days of struggle and penury.
When he began shooting Nikhil Advani’s film ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ – which is roughly based on Akki’s own lifestory – in Bangkok, the actor says he felt like returning to his home.
“So much has changed and yet there is so much that is still the same. There are more buildings and flyovers, but the traffic is still a mess that it was. The massages here are still as wonderful and the people are still hospitable,” Akshay is quoted as saying.
While shooting the film in Bangkok, Akki decided to catch up on his past and visited a restaurant where he used to work as a waiter. The actor couldn’t control his emotions as he walked through the same place where he had struggled day and night.
Today, Akshay calls Bangkok his “second home”. He thinks it is the most humble city in the world where people are happy sitting on the beach, selling coconuts or getting massages.
With ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ Akki is returning to action after a long gap of five years. The actor says his son Aarav inspires him to do more action roles.
