16 February 2008 (Sawf News) - Anurag Basu's Next, to be produced by Rakesh Roshan's Filmkraft, may feature sultry Hollywood star Penelope Cruz opposite Bollywood heart throb Hrithik Roshan. Rakesh Roshan, who is also Hrithik's father, and Basu are currently in Los Angeles negotiating with the Spanish actress, reports Mumbai Mirror. The script for the film requires an actress of Spanish / Latin American descent as the female lead. Sonam Kapoor was reportedly considered for the role but she opted out because the role included steamy scenes that she was not comfortable doing. "We're looking at someone from abroad, someone Latin American or Brazilian," Hrithik Roshan recently told HT. "The girl's role is extremely bold. Actually, we've decided to cast someone international, preferably Brazilian, because that's the personality and profile of the leading lady in my film," says Basu. Oscar nominated Penelope Cruz, 33, is best known for her roles in Volver (2006), Vanilla Sky (2001) and Blow (2001). Cruz is currently in a relationship with the Spanish actor Javier Bardem, her co-star in the upcoming Woody Allen film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The actress, who commands a paycheck of $1.6 million, is currently not filming for any other film.
