'Paa' is an emotional film : Director R Balki

The Bollywood New film "Paa", in which Amitabh Bachchan(Big B) plays a patient of a rare disorder called progeria is not an educational movie, but in fact an "emotional story about a father and son", says director R Balki . While promoting the film along with its stars Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan at an Andheri cinema hall in Mumbai Wednesday evening, Balki said, "this is a family drama where incidentally Amitabh Bachchan, who is suffering from progeria, plays the role of Abhishek's son. This movie is not about educating people on progeria." "It is an emotional story about a father and son." Progeria is an extremely rare condition of early ageing. Those born with progeria typically live about 13 years, although many have been known to live into their late teens and early twenties. Asked about the film Abhishek - Amitabh Bachchan(Big B)'s son in real life - joked, "Amitabh was a very troublesome child all through the film."

The designers are ecstatic that Big B will be walking the ramp for them and told the press, ‘Mr Bachchan has been wearing our clothes for a long time now and we wanted someone who knows our clothes well. Big B launch of Bigg Boss Season 3

Bollywood Mega star Amitabh Bachchan at the launch of Bigg Boss Season 3

Big B: No Bigg Boss House for me

Amitabh Bachchan: Let me correct you ma’am, I shall be turning 68 in a few days, so I’m no longer a 67-year-old (his birthday is on October 11),” Amitabh Bachchan, the man who’s currently playing the role of a 12-year-old in Balki’s Paa. And from the look of it, it is with that very childlike mindset that he came for this event because the usually reticent, monosyllabic Bachchan spoke, and even joked over lengthy interviews to the press. So, he’s to play a pop psychologist for the inmates of the Bigg Boss 3 house. What’s he supposed to do? AB confesses to not knowing it exactly. “It has always intrigued me, this whole ‘mind’ part of us human beings. Why does someone behave the way he does? When he loses his temper, when he shouts at someone? When he laughs or does peculiar things ... would it not be nice to know the answer? Is there a past that he has lived? Is there any incident in his life that could’ve perhaps influenced his behaviour? I thought it would be interesting to know.” Is

Amitabh Bachchan's first time with Katrina Kaif

Bollywood Actress Katrina Kaif made her debut with Amitabh Bachchan in Boom. About her, he wrote, ‘Katrina stabs a ‘Hey, it’s me!’ finger punch on my shoulder and we recollect old times, the time of her very first film, Boom and how, as a shy, reticent girl, she had been bullied by the director not to ever look into the monitor. She was new and uncertain like most of us, but was keen to see what she looked like on screen. I thought it was a most natural and common desire and one that should have been allowed by the director, but when he did not express its possibility to the rest of the cast, I had dragged her to the monitor and given her the first look of what she looked like, to her. To her credit she still remembers that moment. Later as the film shoot in Dubai came to an end, I had invited all cast and crew to tour the city at night and to perhaps have a bite somewhere. I recollect the embarrassment she and all of us faced when she was stopped from going inside a club, because the

It’s about a child within a man and a man within a child Director R. Balakrishnan, also known as Balki, has decided to release his role-reversal drama "Paa", starring Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, on Nov 13 as a tribute to Children's Day. Amitabh Bachchan: I was inadequate for politics

It’s a job he’ll never recommend to anyone Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, who was a Lok Sabha MP in 1984-87, says he quit politics because he felt he was "inadequate for the job". "Many ask me why I joined politics and why I left it. I joined it because I was asked to and left because I was inadequate for the job," Bachchan posted on his blog. The veteran actor came into politics at the behest of friend and then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. He contested the Lok Sabha election from his hometown Allahabad in 1984. He won by a huge majority. He says it is a tough job to be a politician and admires those who have managed to stay put in it. "Politics is a complicated world - a world where if you are unable to play the game, you would remain a novice and a stranger eternally. I admire those who have remained in it for long years. (I) admire the guile with which they steer their boats every day, every minute. The ease with which they make associations and break them

Amitabh Bachchan’s blog to be compiled into book

It may contain some responses from his fans Ever since Amitabh Bachchan’s blog was launched in April 2008, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been regularly updating it. From movies to his arguments with the media to social issues - he has written at length on various subjects. And now it may be compiled into a full-fledged book. "During one of my meetings with BigAdda.com the people that matter said that they have a desire to convert the blog and my posts into a book and release it. I would find that terribly embarrassing, but if they were to persevere, I would want to suggest that the book also contain some of the responses from fans," Amitabh wrote on his blog. The sexagenarian says he has received some very thought provoking responses and that is why he would like them to be included in the book if it ever takes shape. "I have found that during this long journey of ours there have been incredible inputs from those that have so liberally contributed to every blog

Amitabh Bachchan on CNN’s ‘Talk Asia’

Talks about changing force of Bollywood The Western world is now showing interest in Hindi films - all because of its dance and music content, something that they ridiculed a few years ago, says megastar Amitabh Bachchan. "We were ridiculed, and the West was very cynical about the way we made our films and the content - the songs and the dance, and the music was something that was kind of looked down upon many years ago. "But that very aspect has now become its USP, and people love to see that. I would expect that this is how and what our cinema is all about," Amitabh said on CNN's show "Talk Asia". Speaking about Hollywood-Bollywood collaborations, Amitabh said: "I think this has got to do a lot more with economics rather than sharing creativity... Hollywood is very healthy in their finance, they are using their money to invest in productions that are coming out of India. And in that respect, yes, holding hands with Hollywood companies or any other co

Bollywood Newz: Hrithik Roshan is in a wheelchair...

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who failed to hit pay dirt with a love story like Saawariya in 2007, is planning a Black-like hit with his next film Guzaarish. In this, just as he had a visually impaired Rani Mukherji deliver an outstanding performance opposite Amitabh Bachchan at his impressive best in Black, Bhansali has Hrithik Roshan playing a wheelchair bound paraplegic opposite Aishwarya Bachchan. Black was as much a box office success as it was critically acclaimed for the sheer boldness of its script and the depth of the relationship between a blind Rani and an alcoholic Bachchan. Hrithik has played a mentally challenged boy in papa Rakesh Roshan’s Koi Mil Gaya, but being physically handicapped on screen, will be his first experience. And, Ash and he make a hot couple anyway... remember Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar?

Shah Rukh Khan is Richer to Me: Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood megastar Amitbah Bachchan says he couldn’t bid for an Indian Premier League (IPL) team because he doesn’t have “as much money as (Kolkata Knight Riders owner) Shah Rukh Khan”. “I don’t have as much money as Shah Rukh. He has money and so he owns a team,” Amitabh said. Amitabh sent a congratulatory SMS to skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his Padma Shri and didn’t get a response. But he says he holds no grudge against the cricket star. “He must have been busy, there’s no need to make an issue out of this.” The sexagenarian otherwise makes for an avid viewer of the IPL and says he watches “almost all the matches”

When Vivek made Amitabh Bachchan cry

After Bhootnath, Amitabh Bachchan and director Vivek Sharma would be joining hands again for Buddham Sharanam Gachchami Vivek says he wrote the movie keeping Bachchan in mind and wouldn’t have gone ahead with it had he not agreed to do it. “I remember when I was narrating the story to him, he had tears in his eyes. I knew then that I had won him over!” says Vivek with a smile. Even while writing Bhootnath, Vivek wanted only Bachchan in the film. And this time winning Big B’s confirmation to do the project was a dream come true, he says. “To have him show that sort of confidence in me to handle such a delicate subject well was amazing,” gushes Vivek.
