Movie Reviw: U, Me aur Hum

U, Me aur Hum (drama) Cast: Ajay Devgan, Kajol Direction: Ajay Devgan Critic rating: IT'S the season of sadness in Bollywood . Or else, why would two mainline actors choose to make their directorial debut with films that explore human relationships shadowed by the trauma of physical ailments. If Aamir Khan made the world cry with his sensitive tale of a dyslexic kid, then Ajay Devgan turns the spotlight on Alzheimers and its debilitating effect on love and life. And like Aamir, Ajay too weaves a plot that's high on EQ, making the Kleenex count high too. Truly, it's the unbridled emotional quotient of U, Me aur Hum which saves it from slipping into mediocrity. The sensitive second half not only makes up for the flaws in the first half, it also winds up the film as a poignant tribute to the institution of marriage, romance and soulmate-ship. The film opens predictably as a love-at-first-sight story on a cruise liner . Psychiatrist Ajay loses his heart to Kajol , the sassy w

Ajay directs Kajol in ad commercial

Producer-actor Shah Rukh Khan did enough and more to promote Om Shanti Om . But actor-debutant director Ajay Devgan seems to be doing more to promote his home production venture U, Me Aur Hum . The actor, who marks his directorial debut with this one took it upon himself to shoot for the ad commercial of Sangini jewellery , that'll feature Ajay and Kajol . Shot in Filmistan only recently, the ad will hit the small screens in mid-March, and will prove to be an extended marketing strategy for the promotion of U, Me Aur Hum . In fact, the storyline of the ad commercial has been formulated keeping in mind the storyline of the romantic feel-good U, Me Aur Hum. Ajay and Kajol are on a cruise when it begins to rain stars. Well, let's hope the movie proves to be a gem, and worth it's weight in gold, too. Source/News

Time for Devgan to say HALLA BOL again!

The double National Award winner of the coveted best actor, Ajay Devgan, seems to be going through a rough patch. Post GOLMAAL (2006), most of his projects have failed at the box-office. Even Anubhav Sinha's CASH, which took a good initial, sank without a trace. After that RGV KI AAG and super director, Rajkumar Santoshi's HALLA BOL, failed to get even a reasonable start at the ticket window, before fading out into the oblivion. While it was generally believed by all and sundry that his latest, Rohit 'Golmaal' Shetty directed, SUNDAY, would set the record straight and also give Bollywood its first hit of 2008, the movie has disappointed, barring Bombay. Though it's too early to dismiss SUNDAY, the fact remains that the opening has been far from encouraging and the reports coming in are poor. Meanwhile in the UK, SUNDAY has fared much better than Devgan's last venture, HALLA BOL, grossing $161,059 during the first weekend itself, as compared to HALLA BOL, which

Ajay Devgan, Kajol in Bollywood's first live action animation film

MUMBAI (Reuters) - Actors Ajay Devgan and Kajol team up to stop a war between animated characters in what will be Bollywood's first attempt at a live action animation film. The husband-wife duo play themselves while sharing screen space with 50 animated characters in "Toonpur Ka Superhero," a film being made on the lines of Hollywood's "Space Jam" and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" . "Ajay and Kajol will accidentally get transported into the world of cartoons who are engaged in a war against each other and they will try to save the situation," said director Kireet Khurana. Although Hollywood has used the technique several times, most recently in last year's hit "Alvin and the Chipmunks," the makers of "Toonpur Ka Superhero" hope to cash in on Bollywood's first experiment with the format. "It is a very new thing here (in India) and we are hopeful that it will work," Khur

London Dreams might be revived soon…

Rajkumar Santoshi is infamous for announcing big projects and then shelving them. But this time however, things seem to be flowing in the reverse order since Santoshi is planning to revive a shelved project of his. The film in question is the ambitious musical London Dreams that Santoshi had launched a couple of years back starring Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan in lead roles. However, soon after a few scenes were shot on Salman Khan in the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the film was shelved due to some financial problems between the producer and the director. Sources inform that Eros International had acquired the film for a record price of Rs 40 crores. On learning this Santoshi, who was signed as a director for a fee of Rs 3.5 crores, raised his remuneration to Rs 8 crores. But reportedly producer Param Jeet Singh met with a financial crisis and couldn’t match Santoshi’s price. So the film got shelved. Now sources inform that Singh is keen to revive the projec

Ajay Devgan: the dark horse of Bollywood

New Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS) Amitabh Bachchan once called Ajay Devgan the "Dark Horse" of the film industry. But he is also proving to be a winning tortoise with his slow and steady growth. He is on the roll. After a forgettable 2007, he has started off this year with a bang. The intense actor, who is known for breaking the rules now and then, first charmed critics with his power-packed performance in Rajkumar Santoshi's "Halla Bol" and is now trying to tickle the funny bone in Rohit Shetty's "Sunday" that released this week. His roles in both films are in complete contrast to each other. While in "Halla Bol" he is an actor-turned-activist, in fun-filled action thriller "Sunday" he is a corrupt cop. Very soon the actor will turn director with his directorial debut film "U Me Aur Hum", schedule to release in April. Once tipped as the successor for angry-young-man roles immortalised by Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay has always made
