Bollywood Movie Jodha Akbar rigged Bollywood awards : Akshay Kumar

While other actors make a mad scramble for awards, Akshay Kumar gave everyone a lesson in humility by refusing an award at the Star Screen awards function on Wednesday.

The trade and organizers behind Bollywood awards such as Screen, Filmfare, Zee, IIFAs etc have long been suspected to be manipulating the awards based on political or other agendas, instead of rewarding objectively difficult to enact performances reflective of India.

This was highlighted this year when Aishwarya Rai who did not get the expected best actress award for a 50-year character arc span performance in the box office superhit Guru was seen given an allegedly ‘best popular’ award for a lesser role in Jodha Akbar, a controversial movie, which record will show despite being given a huge budget and unprecedented open run failed to break box office benchmarks and in fact was banned in many parts of India, and whose screening was allowed not by popular uprising but by its producer pleading the supreme court on legal grounds.

Actors such as Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan have also at various points inferred the same at various occasions, with many outright skipping the award shows altogether.

However this opinion of the bollywood awards was more directly confirmed by superstar Akshay Kumar after this year’s screen awards. Akshay Kumar has now reportedly put the story on award shows out in the open, saying “I get calls from lot of awards. They say, please perform at our award night at half the price and we will give you the award…It’s a very simple deal. I don’t want awards which are manipulated. There are so many award nights today. Around 12 to 14 award nights. Awards ki koi value hi nehi rahi.”

Bollywood Actress Rani Mukherjee's sexy in her bikini In Dil Bole Hadippa Believe it or not, but the whole ‘bikini top ‘n’ skimpy shorts’ avatar in short — flaunting Rani Mukerji’s hot new bod wasn’t her idea. After she realised how much she had toned up (to play a male cricketer in Dil Bole Hadippa!), Rani just happened to discuss this idea with her designer friend Manish Malhotra. And from there on it was Manish’s game plan, after all, he’s transformed many a Bollywood girl in to glam queens. He suggested that it would be a pity to waste such a well-toned body by not showing it off. That’s how the idea of a special song was born. And is she looking hot? Talk about her ‘shapely’ success, and Rani says, “Believe me, I didn’t starve at all. I love my food, especially rice and sweets. There was no way I was giving up all that. So, I just worked out harder and was occasionally allowed my ‘cheat’ meals of rice, sweets, etc. ...

But I respect him a lot. I am a big fan of him,” Ranbir told reporters on the margins of the HT Leadership Summit here Friday. The 28-year-old, who was here with his father, evergreen star Rishi Kapoor, says a superstar’s presence in a project isn’t reason enough for him to accept it. “It’s not that if a superstar will be there in a film, I’ll agree to do it. But if I like a film, I like its script, I would be more than glad to do it,” he added. Nevertheless, Ranbir enjoys the attention he gets from the youth.
