Warner Bros., which has come together with R S Entertainment and Orion Pictures to make Chandni Chowk To China is planning to make the film’s release a global one as well as the biggest ever in U.S when it comes to a Bollywood film. This of course, apart from the wide release across 1400 screens in India.

Confirming the news, Blaise Fernandes, Country Manager-India, Warner Bros., said, “For us, Chandni Chowk To China is not a film which would be restricted to the Indian shores. We are treating it as any other international film and will be taking it across the globe. In US alone, we are making sure that it is the biggest ever Bollywood release. The scale at which we will be unleashing the flick there, while beginning with a premiere at none less than Los Angeles, will be unprecedented.”

The film is being readied for release across Japan, Germany and Scandinavian countries like Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Norway. Also, efforts are being made to premiere the film in New York, London, Dubai, Mumbai and New Delhi apart from Los Angeles.

Oye Lucky... tries its luck on DTH platforms
Affected by the lull in audience volumes due to the Mumbai terror attacks and the recession, filmmakers are focusing on newer revenue streams. UTV Motion Pictures, the producers of the November 28 release - Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! have released the film on DTH platforms to maximize the revenues. The first Indian film to be telecast on television through the DTH medium within three weeks of theatrical release, it has been made available on Dish TV and Tata Sky on December 18. Commenting on the move, Amrita Pandey, VP-International Distribution and Syndication, UTV Motion Pictures, said, “Normally movies go to DTH platforms only after six to eight weeks of its theatrical release and sometimes after the first satellite telecast. We are looking forward to see how audiences consume a recent release on the DTH platform. It could form a growing revenue stream for everyone in the future.”

The movie will be priced at Rs 100 to end-consumers on a pay per view basis for download for 24 hours. UTV is also in talks with other DTH players to replicate the same model on their platforms. Meanwhile, according to Unnati Sinha, Chief Content and Business Development Officer, Tata Sky Ltd., release of new movies through the pay per view model is monetary beneficial to the parties and also tackles piracy.

Sequel to Deshdrohi to take-off on Republic Day
Actor-director Kamaal Khan, whose earlier film Deshdrohi generated a lot of controversy for its anti-MNS stand, will set his cameras rolling on January 26 for a sequel. The film will focus on the recent Mumbai terror attacks. Titled as Deshdrohi 2, the film will depict the current security situation in country, including the loopholes and the solution, according to Khan. Further, the actor-cum-director will be seen playing the role of an army commandant. The character is likely to portray the disturbances caused by the external elements in India by provoking regionalism. Khan confirmed the story saying, “In my earlier film also, I have portrayed how certain corrupt politicians are exploiting regional sentiments to garner votes. My new film will go a step further.” Meanwhile, taking potshots at Pakistani artistes visiting India, Khan said the performers from the neighbouring country should not be allowed to perform in India.

Rani Mukherjee's sexy in her bikini

Bollywood Actress Rani Mukherjee's sexy in her bikini In Dil Bole Hadippa Believe it or not, but the whole ‘bikini top ‘n’ skimpy shorts’ avatar in short — flaunting Rani Mukerji’s hot new bod wasn’t her idea. Not even the producer or director had anything to do with it. After she realised how much she had toned up (to play a male cricketer in Dil Bole Hadippa!), Rani just happened to discuss this idea with her designer friend Manish Malhotra. And from there on it was Manish’s game plan, after all, he’s transformed many a Bollywood girl in to glam queens. He suggested that it would be a pity to waste such a well-toned body by not showing it off. That’s how the idea of a special song was born. And is she looking hot? Talk about her ‘shapely’ success, and Rani says, “Believe me, I didn’t starve at all. I love my food, especially rice and sweets. There was no way I was giving up all that. So, I just worked out harder and was occasionally allowed my ‘cheat’ meals of rice, sweets, etc.

Bollywood New Movie Slumdog Millionaire has definitely made the slums of Mumbai a little popular. Perhaps this is why they are so welcoming to every director who wants to make a film on their lifestyle. This film is directed by David Dhawan and John Abraham playes a cricketer who resides in the chawl. In a song John and Genelia D’Souza dance to a tapori-ish number with the typical tapori dance steps. The residents of the slum were delighted to see the stars around and cheered for the unit as they worked. John Abraham added to their delight by giving them autographs and taking pictures with them.
